Update on 000webhost

After giving them such a good review in my earlier post, I was starting to get very frustrated with the web hosting. The main reason being that whenever I came to do things in the admin panel, I would quite often get

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted

After searching round, I tried setting “WP_MEMORY_LIMIT” to 96M in the wp-config file, this appears to have done the trick, as I’ve not received the error since (fingers crossed).

As just about anything other than web traffic is blocked on my work network, I used https://webftp.dreamhost.com/ which is a web based FTP client. It works surprisingly well and is AJAX based which makes it quite nice to use. It includes a text editor too, so it’s pretty quick to make small changes. The only negatives I have regarding 000webhost is that you have to do some updates manually (depending on size), as in download the update, extract it and upload it to the directory using FTP. This includes some large addons or themes, which can get annoying – but what can you expect from free hosting!
